Building bridges between humans and AI through emotionally intelligent dialogue systems.
Hi 👋🏾! I'm Emmanuel, an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering at Kansai University, Japan. I received my Ph.D. in Informatics from Osaka Prefecture University in 2020, where I was supported by a JSPS Fellowship for Young Researchers (DC1).
My research advances emotionally intelligent conversational agents to foster meaningful second language learning experiences. I explore how AI systems can understand and respond to learners' affective states, making the journey of language acquisition more natural and engaging.

Technology should understand not just what we say, but how we feel. By building AI systems that recognize and respond to human emotions, we can create learning experiences that truly connect — bridging the gap between human warmth and machine intelligence.
